Once enrolled in a HAP,  families can apply for the homeschool voucher through the Iowa Online Voucher System. The voucher can be used to purchase approved educational materials and services from approved vendors.

How to Apply for School Vouchers in Iowa?

Step 1: Determine Eligibility

To be eligible for the program, families must meet certain requirements, including submitting a Notification of Intent to Homeschool form to the Iowa Department of Education, choosing a Homeschool Assistance Program to participate in, and meeting certain income guidelines. The program is available to families who are already homeschooling or who are planning to homeschool in the upcoming academic year.

In Iowa, to be eligible for a homeschool voucher, you must meet certain criteria, such as being the parent or legal guardian of the student, having a valid Iowa address, and homeschooling your child for the current academic year. Step 2: Submit Notification of Intent to Homeschool

Before applying for a voucher, you must submit a Notification of Intent to Homeschool to the Iowa Department of Education. This can be done online through the Iowa Homeschool Help website or by mail.

Step 3: Choose a Homeschool Assistance Program

In Iowa, homeschool families must choose a Homeschool Assistance Program (HAP) to participate in. HAPs provide support, resources, and guidance to homeschooling families. A list of approved HAPs can be found on the Iowa Department of Education website.

Step 4: Complete the HAP Application
