Eric Franzen
Eric C. Franzen is a veteran educational leader, entrepreneur, and innovator with more than 20 years of experience advancing high-quality education across traditional, online, and international learning environments. As Co-founder and Director of Ideal School, he has built a career at the intersection of academic leadership, bilingual education, and global school development, with a strong personal and professional connection to Latin America.
Eric began his work in education as a classroom teacher, where he developed a strong foundation in curriculum design, student-centered instruction, and instructional leadership. Over time, his role expanded into school leadership and educational entrepreneurship, guiding programs, teams, and institutions through periods of growth, transformation, and innovation. His work reflects a consistent focus on access, equity, and academic excellence for diverse student populations.
He holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Seattle Pacific University, where he trained in organizational leadership, school governance, and strategic planning. He also earned his undergraduate degree in Education from the University of Washington, grounding his career in strong pedagogical theory and classroom practice. These academic credentials support his practical experience leading schools across different models and cultural contexts.
Eric is best known as the co-founder and owner of Ideal School, recognized as the world’s only two-way dual language immersion online school. Under his leadership, Ideal School pioneered a fully online model that delivers authentic bilingual education while maintaining the rigor, structure, and community of a high-quality international school. This work positioned Eric as a leading authority in online education and dual-language program design.
At Ideal School, Eric helped design systems that support bilingual literacy development, cross-cultural competency, and global citizenship. He led the development of curriculum frameworks, teacher training models, and operational structures tailored specifically for online dual-language immersion.
