My name is Omar Fernando. Sánchez Forero, but everyone calls me Fer. I am really thrilled to be a part of Ideal School. I have always dreamed about finding a way to interact with people from the safety of my own study room, and Ideal School has nailed it. I have studied a lot throughout my life because I love studying and learning, and travelling, as well. I have three degrees from three different countries and cultures: Colombia (South America), Spain (Europe), and The USA (North America), where I got my PhD degree. I have dedicated most of my life to teaching, and I just love interacting with learners and teaching them as much as I can and to the best of my knowledge. As I said before, travelling is one of my passions. I love discovering new places, local cuisines, street foods, and learning as much as I can from the sheer thrill of the discovery experience. Societies and cultures around the world are so similar that if we really got to understand every single one of them, we would not consider ourselves different from anybody else. Yet, the lack of knowledge about those societies and cultures keep us separated and even isolated to some extent, like it is the case for many cultures located in far away and inaccessible places. I do believe that by having fun and by doing what you like, you can help others discover their own likes, dislikes, skills, passions or drives, and therefore changing the world is just is not only feasible but incredibly easy to attain.
I have always been interested in foreign languages and cultures. When I was in fourth grade, I started learning English. I had wonderful teachers who taught me a great deal about the language and English-speaking cultures, since I had both British and American teachers. Ever since that moment I began exploring and learning by myself as much as I could about English grammar, syntax, literature, etc. I also loved linguistics and science. I was one of the best students in my biology class, history, English, physics, and literature. One of my favorite authors and science personalities in that time was Dr. Carl Sagan, whose passion for knowledge, science and history instilled in me the desire to learn more about the world, how everything works and how we humans have interacted with each other making our stay in this planet either more pleasant or more difficult. And it is so interesting to discover how stories keep repeating in different periods of history and how by knowing about history itself we can unveil the realities of today in our ever-changing world. As I mentioned before, I enjoy reading stories, specially those that are heavily based on reality. I have read many different authors, in their original language. One of my favorites is Charles Dickens whose voices from Victorian England and the suffering of the common man in that time, still whisper in my mind. Isaac Asimov is another wonderful science fiction author that I have enjoyed reading a lot. I have also read a great deal about WWII, and I can say that although there are many interesting authors from that time, Leon Uris is a very special one. It is so compelling to re live those harsh times and see the perils of repeating history again and again. There is also a great deal of interesting readings I have done on linguistics, and science, and I would need a lot of pages to just scratch the surface of those magnificent works. I could go on and on talking about myself, but if you really want to know more about me, what if we just have a nice chat, and have a cup of coffee?
Unlike traditional schools, Ideal School can focus on academics ALL day because there does not exist the constant misbehavior of a typical classroom. Because we take advantage of the extra time for instruction, every Friday is dedicated to parents conferencing with the teacher, teachers conducting individual, one-on-one assessments with the students, and students practicing the concepts and material learned from Monday-Thursday with one or all three of their table partners. Finally, to add more practice, Ideal School is a year-round school. After every five weeks of instruction and class time, the students get one week off to explore the world around them with their families. You can’t ask for a better schedule for students, teachers, and families!
We believe that a loving home is the ULTIMATE learning environment for students. It is safe, secure, comfortable, and most importantly, filled with supportive, loving family members (your team members).
We have the experience, education, passion, technology, and persistent drive to provide your child the absolute best education. Your child’s needs are our business! No question or concern is too small for us. And no problem is too big for us to solve. Come see why we are the ideal school of the future!
